The weird thing on his tail is a transmitter so the museum can find him if he gets distracted and leaves the area. Some birds can fly, but aren’t equipped to survive in the wild, and it’s not good when they get lost.

Shoebill
Under the “Identification” section, Wikipedia states “At close range, it can be easily identified by its unique features.”
However, to be safe, the shoebill always carries its passport and visa documents.

According to the birds of the world site, the chestnut breasted malkoha eats “insects, including caterpillars (hairy and hairless)”.
So if you’ve got a caterpillar problem, you’re in luck. These guys can cover the entire situation.
