Papuan Hornbill (Rhyticeros plicatus)

Image July 15, 2016 Josh More

Papuan Hornbill (Rhyticeros plicatus)_2

The first Papuan hornbills seen between 1966 and 1969 had smooth beaks. It wasn’t until the 1979 that we saw the ridges for the first time.

There are many theories as to why this is the case.

About

This site features my photography. Starting as a hobby to see as many species as I could before they went extinct, it's become more.

I've learned that many zoos are no longer cages of desperation, but have become triage centers combating extinction. They work tirelessly, at little to no pay, to save the world the rest of us are actively destroying.
