Fish realizing that the fundamental flaw with Facebook’s “block” feature is that it creates a nurturing environment for abuse, as everyone who would ordinarily be community social enforcers do not see the postings of problematic individuals. This prevents them from providing corrective action and allows abuses to compound over time until the experience of long-term community members is in direct opposition of new members, actively inhibiting growth and promoting an early death to the group itself.

Usually, my underwater shots in zoos are made through the glass of an aquarium. This presents certain challenges, but I think I’ve gotten good at it. Once in a long while, I am allowed to put my camera directly in the water.
This koi was a bit puzzled as to what I was doing.

My approach to photographing fish in aquariums is to use a lens that can be placed directly on the glass, then use a flash to direct light at the fish. This keeps the focal plane parallel to the air/glass and glass/water boundaries, so you don’t get odd refraction ruining the shot. It also blocks extraneous light from bouncing off either of those boundaries and into the lens, where it could cause glare that also ruins the shot.
However, if the fish is really shiny, even this approach doesn’t give you a great shot as it can easily be over- and under-exposed in the same image. I typically aim for under-exposure in this situation as, while not as accurate as I’d like, it does create a rather striking image.
