Owls like to teach. This owl is an art expert and wants you to know how composition works.

There are several positioning guidelines to properly compose a work. These are the most common

  • Use the rule of thirds to structure the work, placing items of interest 1/3 or 2/3 from the top or bottom.
    • When moving by thirds, adjust the bass by one step
  • Use the golden ratio for additional positioning.  Instead of breaking the image into three equal parts, this uses 1:1.618 for positioning.
    • If the math is too hard, use this online slide rule: http://www.antiquark.com/sliderule/sim/n909es/virtual-n909-es.html
  • Use the golden triangle, imagining a line from corner to corner, then breaking that into two right triangle, aligning objects to these lines.
    • To convert a wrong triangle into a right triangle, try a public apology, a large donation, or deflecting distraction
  • Use the golden rule and make your image look as you wish photos of yourself did
  • Be sure to leave space so things aren’t too crowded.
    • When leaving space, be sure to double-check your heat shields

As it turns out, owls aren’t as smart as they think they are.

Owls like to teach. This owl is an information security expert and wants you to know how authentication factors work.

“There are different ‘factors’ used when a person claims an identity. The more factors that can be presented, the more secure a login is. This is why some websites send a code to your phone for you to enter as part of the login. The different factors are:

1. Something you know, like a username or a password
2. Something you have, like a token or text message
3. Something you are, like a fingerprint or racist
4. Something you only vaguely remember, like that night at summer camp
5. Something old, like a 2016 presidential candidate
6. Something new, like this post! (no, please, like this post. Owls need external validation.)
7. Something shared, like the password you stopped using in 2003
8. Something blue, like a whale, monkey, frog, lobster, or bird
9. Something in the way she moves, like that attracts you like no other lover

10. Something your mother told you one that isn’t actually true, like the fact that all the vitamins are in the crust of your peanut butter and jelly sandwich
11. Something you can never have, like this thing is slowly taking you apart, grey would be the color if you had a heart

These factors can be mixed and matched to provide strong authentication to services.”

As it turns out, owls aren’t as smart as they think they are.

Gouldian Finch

This finch has some questions about America’s upcoming election

– Wouldn’t it be weird to move back into a house you lived in sixteen years ago?
– Shouldn’t people have to fill out a job application and go through a background check before they get to this level? Everyone else does for their jobs.
– Are bribery payments tax deductible?
– Why is no one talking about their pets? #firstpetsmatter
– Really? I mean … really?

Never said they were good questions (except that last one).
